We warmly welcome every parent who wants to get involved with the Barrington Chinese Immersion Council (BCIC). Your participation enriches our community, and we have many opportunities that fit various interests and schedules.

Opportunities from August to December
Events planning and organizing
Let’s make our events unforgettable for our students! Past events have included the Homecoming parade, MidAutumn Festival, Lunar New Year, Character Bee, Graduation Party and End of the Year Celebration. Each event will need support! Pick one or more to help with.
- Planning committee: Assist in making the big decisions for the event(s). New skills and ideas welcome!
- Decorations: Assist in the creative process by helping plan and/or craft decorations that bring our events to life.
- Check-In Lead: Learn about our check in process. On the day-of-the-event(s) lead the check in table to ensure a smooth process. We’re looking to improve from past years, so your assistance is needed.
- Organizer: On the day of the event help coordinate volunteers or activities to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Chinese Language Events at the Library 📚
Are you passionate about Chinese language events? Support our community by volunteering for various roles at the library, including:
- K-2nd Grade Story Times
- 3rd-5th Grade Games
Small Cultural Events
Our teachers are excited about hosting small cultural events outside of school, but they need your help to make it happen! In the past, we’ve had events like dining at a Chinese restaurant with cultural insights from teachers. Help us create more meaningful experiences for our students and families.
Greencastle of Barrington
MidAutumn festival will be celebrated at Greencastle of Barrington where the CI students and Greaancastle elderly residents (many native Chinese speakers) can enjoy the festivities together. Throughout the year, other meaningful events are held their and great volutunteer opportunities for middle and high school CI students.
PTO Liaison
Help bridge the gap between your school and BCIC to better support CI students! As a liaison, you’ll attend PTO meetings and share important information with BCIC.
Social Media Communicator
Share our events with the community by posting about them on the BCIC Facebook group, BCIC Instagram, or other social media platforms. Note that all the information and links will be in the newsletter or website, we just need help keeping up with social media.
Easiest Ways to Help
- Engage with Social Media: Like, share, and comment on BCIC posts. Share your photos, highlights, and feedback from our events.
- Winterfest Tree Decoration: Love Christmas crafts? Help us create a vision and ornaments for the CI Winterfest Tree.
- Proofreaders: Ensure our communications are clear and error-free by proofreading our newsletter, website, and event posts.
- Repond to Surveys or RSVP: This will help us improve and plan well.
